BNNVARA - Full-Stack Developer

Full-time at the Dutch public broadcaster since July 2024. I work on CoMa (MeMa, JoeJoe and Dino), Auth0, and Symfony microservices deployed with Terraform and FrankenPHP.

Current Role

After my internship I was offered a full-time position as a Full-Stack Developer. I've been working at BNNVARA since July 2024, building and maintaining the internal applications and services that support the broadcaster's teams.

What I Work On

  • CoMa

    The Content Manager App: one app that bundles three internal tools.

    • MeMa

      Media manager for the NPO's POMS (now MDS).

    • JoeJoe

      User management system for the Publiek & Marketing department.

    • Dino

      Dit Is Niet Oké: moderation tool for comments and the community forums of Kassa's Q&A.

  • Auth0

    Authentication and accounts.

  • Microservices

    Symfony services, infrastructure as code with Terraform, running on FrankenPHP.

Architecture & stack

  • Frontend: JavaScript, TypeScript, React
  • Backend: PHP and Symfony, split into microservices that each own their domain
  • API layer: GraphQL Backend-for-Frontend (BFF)
  • Infrastructure: Terraform, so every environment is defined as code
  • Runtime: FrankenPHP
